Ballan’s cricket and AFL stars will soon be enjoying better facilities at Ballan Recreation Reserve with the announcement of that over $221,000 will be invested in new Cricket training facilities and nets for the AFL goals.

Michaela Settle Member for Buninyong today announced $120,328 in funding from the Andrews Labor Government will help deliver new facilities at Ballan Recreation Reserve.

The ground is the home of Ballan Cricket Club and Ballan Football and Netball Club and the funding will enable Moorabool Shire Council to upgrade the facilities for these clubs.

Ballan Recreation Reserve Cricket Training Nets will consist of three synthetic pitches and a total project cost of $178,740 of which $98,740 will be contributed through the Victorian Government’s Community Cricket Program.

New safety nets will be installed behind the North end AFL goals at Ballan Recreation Reserve to ensure the safety of Reserve visitors during matches and training session thanks to a $21,588 grant from the AFL Safety Goal Netting Project with a total project investment of $43,177.

By supporting the Ballan clubs to modernise their facilities, we’re giving grassroots communities the opportunity to cater for even more Victorians keen to do their communities proud.

These initiatives are part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to sport and active recreation, gender equality and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

This initiative is part of the Government’s investment of over $1.1 billion into community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
