BUNGAREE DEMONS TAKE CENTRE COURT

Netballers from the Bungaree Football Netball Club can now take their game to the next level thanks to the netball court surface upgrade at Bungaree Recreation Reserve. 

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today joined representatives from the Demons to officially launch the new acrylic surface court, made possible by a more than $36,000 investment from the Andrews Labor Government’s Country Football and Netball Program.

Up until recently the 70 members of the Demons were limited in their ability to train and compete due to an ageing cracked court surface. The old asphalt has been replaced with a Netball Victoria competition standard acrylic court surface, along with new court fencing.

This project will help the Demons build membership numbers and host more competitions as well as a space for nearby Bungaree Primary School and community to host local events.

The Country Football and Netball Program is a partnership with the AFL, AFL Victoria, and Netball Victoria. Since 2005, more than $37.5 million has been invested in more than 560 projects across the state.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.

This brings the Labor Government’s investment into community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $1.9 billion since 2014.

Moorabool Shire Council also contributed to the project.
