CHRISTMAS SWISH FOR BACCHUS MARSH AS INDOOR STADIUM OPENS

Bacchus Marsh sport participants have a new four-court indoor stadium, made possible by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today joined Moorabool Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ally Munari and representatives from Bacchus Marsh Basketball Association and Bacchus Marsh Netball Association, to officially open the new stadium, backed by $1.925 million from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

With indoor sports experiencing a boom in the local area, the new stadium is a welcome new venue for the fast-growing community and features four courts marked for multiple sports including basketball, netball, volleyball, and futsal.

There are also new accessible change facilities, reception, administration areas and office, umpires’ and referees’ rooms, two multipurpose rooms, meeting rooms, function room and kitchen, 118 car spaces and accessible shared pathways.

The stadium is a huge win for the more than 1,900 players in the local Bacchus Marsh Basketball and Netball Associations, who will be able to use the new courts for training, development and to host the big events.

The new venue is also available to school sports, futsal and other indoor sports looking to establish teams and competitions in the area.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sport. The funding is part of $1.9 billion invested in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.

The new Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is also investing up to $60 million to help local clubs update their infrastructure and facilities to make way for more locals to play.

Michaela Settle MP acknowledged Moorabool Shire Council for its investment of more than $15 million to the new stadium.
