NEW OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT FOR EXERCISE REST AND PLAY

Construction of new outdoor equipment promoting fitness and fun is underway for Darley, Maddingley and Bacchus Marsh locals, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, today visited the Aqualink Linear Park in Darley to mark the start of works on the Aqualink Activity Nodes that will provide the community with more recreational opportunities along the trail.

The works will create a number of activity stations, known as nodes, complete with fitness equipment, garden beds, trees, benches and bike racks to encourage exercise, play, socialising and rest among other recreational activities.

The project is funded through a $670,000 grant from the Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, with Moorabool Shire Council also contributing $100,000.

The Growing Suburbs Fund is a $435 million investment over nine years into critical local infrastructure in Melbourne’s diverse and fast-growing suburbs.

Since 2015, the fund has invested more than $13 million for five projects in Moorabool Shire, including the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse Recreation Reserve Community Pavilion, Ballan Library and Community Hub and the West Maddingley Early Years and Community Hub.
