REVAMPED COMMUNITY HUB PAVILION FOR ROKEWOOD LOCALS

The Rokewood community can now enjoy an upgraded community hub, thanks to the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle, joined representatives from Golden Plains Shire Council to mark the completion of community hub pavilion upgrades at the Rokewood Recreation Reserve.

This project, which will increase opportunities for local events, activities, and community development initiatives, received $3,500,000 from the Growing Suburbs Fund and co-funding of $442,000 from Golden Plains Shire Council and $18,000 from Rokewood Football Netball Club.

Improvements include a new multi-purpose community hub with ample space for community activation, a new change room, medical, storage and massage facilities that are gender-neutral, undercover areas that support participation and visitation and concrete paths and landscaping.

With more families moving into the area, the upgrades will help increase participation and provide opportunities for community organisations to deliver new programs, events and activities.

In Golden Plains Shire, five projects have received funding through the Growing Suburbs Fund delivering more than $6 million in upgrades.

Since its establishment in 2015, the fund has supported 370 projects, representing a total investment of $1.3 billion and has created more than 11,300 jobs. For more information about the Growing Suburbs Fund, go to suburbandevelopment.vic.gov.au/grants/growing-suburbs-fund.
