UPGRADED LINEAR PARK FOR MADDINGLEY, BACCHUS MARSH AND DARLEY
The communities of Maddingley, Bacchus Marsh and Darley can now enjoy three activity nodes along the Aqualink Linear Park, thanks to the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle joined representatives from Moorabool Shire Council and Southern Rural Water to mark the completion of the Aqualink Activity Nodes project.
This project, which promotes health and well-being through increased opportunities for passive and active recreation, received $671,000 from the Growing Suburbs Fund and co-funding of $100,000 from Moorabool Shire Council.
The Aqualink Activity Nodes project provides three activity nodes along the Aqualink Linear Park, which has been created by repurposing an unused water channel into a 4.5km track, spanning the suburbs of Maddingley, Bacchus Marsh and Darley.
With more families moving into the area, the completion of this project will provide more local recreation facilities across the shire for older children, teens and adults, including outdoor fitness equipment and passive recreation spaces.
In Moorabool Shire, five projects have received funding through the Growing Suburbs Fund delivering more than $13 million in upgrades.
Since its establishment in 2015, the fund has supported 370 projects, representing a total investment of $1.3 billion and has created more than 11,300 jobs. For more information about the Growing Suburbs Fund, go to suburbandevelopment.vic.gov.au/grants/growing-suburbs-fund.
